Why We Built Klayr

We built Klayr because interview preparation has always been structurally unfair. Candidates with access to expensive coaching, insider referrals from current employees, and more dedicated prep time have a compounding advantage that compounds further with each application cycle. A first-generation engineer at a state school applying to Google faces a fundamentally different set of resources than a candidate from a target school with a warm referral and a coach.

Klayr is our answer to that structural inequality. A tool that gives every candidate access to real-time, expert-level support — regardless of their network or their budget.

What Klayr Does

Klayr is a desktop application (macOS, Windows, Linux) that:

• Continuously scans all connected monitors for interview questions — typed, shared on screen, or spoken aloud
• Detects questions within seconds and begins streaming AI-generated answers immediately
• Runs in a window that is completely invisible to Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and all screen-sharing software
• Supports 6 role-specific modes: Software Engineer, System Design, Coding/DSA, HR/Behavioral, Data Science, and Product Manager

Race Mode: Our Signature Feature

The most common complaint about AI interview tools before Klayr was latency. Waiting 4–6 seconds for a response after a question is detected is not practical in a live interview. We solved this with Race Mode.

Race Mode fires two LLM providers simultaneously the moment a question is detected. The first token from either provider begins streaming to the screen immediately — typically within 800ms–1.2s of detection. The slower connection is gracefully terminated. In testing across 500+ interview simulations, Race Mode reduced 95th-percentile time-to-first-token by approximately 40% compared to single-provider mode.

Built-In Code Runner

Klayr is the only AI interview tool with an integrated code execution environment. Powered by the Piston API, it supports Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, and Rust. Every AI response containing code includes a "From Answer" button that extracts the code block and pre-populates the runner. Execute with a keyboard shortcut.
